Dr Law, Yik Wa 羅亦華
Frances Yik Wa Law (羅亦華), PhD, MSW, BSocSc, RSW, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at The University of Hong Kong. She has been researching on suicide, mental health care service and issues in the community since the late 1990s. She joined the HKJC Centre for Suicide Research & Prevention at HKU as a Project Director in 2002 and has gained extensive experiences in piloting and managing a number of innovative research studies in the Centre. She has made significant contributions to integrating social work practice and evidence-based social work research. She has been conducting research studies about self-harm, suicide and youth work in Hong Kong and parent-child relationships in rural China. She has authored or co-authored over 40 academic peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Frances was trained and had practiced as a social worker in Hong Kong and California, USA with a specific focus on children, youth, family and social service management. She has extensive experience in direct social work practices, training for trainers, service development, strategic organizational development, and fundraising for innovative projects. Her teaching specialties include social service management and social work research. Frances has also been appointed as the Program Director of MSocSc Social Service Management since 2018.
