Objectives
To evaluate the effect of GC content on exon length by using the huge amount of molecular data already available in molecular databanks; to test the prediction that the effect of GC content on exon length is more pronounced in the mitochondrial genomes than in the nuclear genomes; to assess the frequency of the gene truncation event due to nonsence mutations and the gene elongation event due to stop codons mutating to sense codons; to implement new analytical tools in my program DAMBE, which will be distributed free to reserchers.
