Objectives
Stem cells are the body’s building blocks, giving rise to all human cell types. They contribute to repair and regeneration when organs are damaged and, when depleted, lead to degenerative diseases. Improperly controlled stem cells contribute to cancer pathology. The identification, manipulation and harnessing of stem cells are key to effective reparative and regenerative therapy for disorders and conditions, such as spinal cord injury, stroke, heart failure, cancers, and aging-related diseases. The ISSCR represents the world’s largest community of stem cell researchers. For 22 years the ISSCR has convened global leaders and the next generation of scientists for the ISSCR Annual Meeting. The conference convenes ~4,000 scientists, clinicians, educators, and industry professionals - from more than 80 countries - to share new data, learn from peers, and advance the field of stem cell research through international collaboration. The Annual Meeting embodies the ISSCR mission: to promote excellence in stem cell research and applications to human health. We propose to convene ISSCR 2025 in Hong Kong. The legacy benefit of ISSCR 2025 Hong Kong is its great impact on our blueprint priority of biomedical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical R&D and will reinforce Hong Kong’s global role as a hub linking East and West.
