Objectives
(1) Understand the physico-chemical interaction mechanism between waste polyolefins (wPOs) and selected additives during reactive extrusion and develop a novel physico-chemical recycling approach to convert wPOs into wPO modifiers (wPOMs) through reactive extrusion, which have good compatibility with asphalt binder and can enhance the durability of asphalt pavement(2) Characterize and optimize the performance of the asphalt binder and asphalt concrete modified by wPOMs produced through the novel reactive extrusion method(3) Assess the secondary pollution risks of wPO modified asphalt pavement (wPOmAP)(4) Verify the field performance of wPOmAP through full-scale accelerated pavement testing(5) Quantify the life cycle economic and environmental performances of wPOmAP(6) Develop the guidelines for the production and construction of durable low-carbon wPOmAP
