Objectives
1. To examine if the loan loss provisions of banks that adopt the CECL model during the COVID-19 pandemic are higher than those of banks that continue using the ICL model, an option made available by the CARES Act 2. To document the conditions under which the effects of adopting the CECL model on loan loss provisions are more or less pronounced 3. To compare the impacts on loan loss provisions between CECL adopters that opt for transition relief to delay such impacts and CECL adopters that do not opt for transition relief
