Objectives
1 To characterize the altered periodontal microanatomy in particular the alveolar bone status under high fat diet induced overnutrition/obesity in laboratory mice; 2 To assess the effect of regular exercise on periodontal microanatomy in particular the alveolar status in obese mice; 3 To investigate the cross-talk between saturated fatty acid (SFA) and bone/adipose cells differentiated from human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs). Special attention would be given to study how SFA via TLR-2/4 or other factors/processes available, could affect the physiology of the cells concerned.
