Objectives
The objective of this project is to develop a wearable Transcranial direct current stimulator (tDCS) for chronic pain management. This project will be carried out with 1) to develop and optimise the electrode placement and stimulation protocol for chronic pain arranagement; 2) to design a wearable stimulator with Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) technology; 3) to perform clinical validation study; 4) to develop a prototype system capable of household application. Chronic pain is a complex symptom, which is the most common symptom to be treated in our clinic. Pain management is a routine clinical practice to allow a person to achieve a high quality of life. Besides pain management by medication and injection, several alternative methods were considered in practice. Safety and effectiveness have been proved by rigors scientific researches in recent 15 years. tDCS is a promising technology that can be proven as an effective, safe and low cost pain relief.
