Objectives
1 To synthesize of bismuth complexes and prepare for a compound bank 2 To screen bismuth complexes against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Burkholderia cepacia, MRSA and relevant virulent bacteria, and to use gallium analogues for comparison 3 To study the mechanisms of action of lead antimicrobial metallo-agents via an integrative metallomic and metalloproteomic approach 4 To analyze those identified proteins by bio-informatics; and to initially validate certain key proteins (and enzymes) through bioassay 5 To educate young generation on frontier research of medicinal chemistry particularly metal ions in medicine, and to nurture innovative economy locally
