Professor Chan, Kit Wa 陳喆燁

Title:
Clinical Associate Professor

Biography

As a clinical academic I am interested in clinically related phenomenon of psychosis, a condition that has huge impact to patients, their family and the society. One of the phenomena that I have tried to explore is lack of insight in patients with psychosis, both neurocognitive basis and the clinical implication. Early intervention service model has been a well advocated and encouraged model developed to improve long term outcomes of patients with first episode psychosis. I have tried to evaluate this from a health economic perspective and have completed a government funded study on the 10-year outcomes of the early intervention service in Hong Kong. An important clinically relevant condition in psychosis is treatment resistant status. Study trying to explore factors predicting this condition has received funding and will be conducted.
