AbstractA 62 year old lady presented with an 8 month history of episodic dysphagia. She was otherwise well and could tolerate a solid diet. Physical examination was unremarkable. Subsequent investigations confirmed the presence of a tumour arising from the wall of the cervical oesophagus. Three-phase oesophagectomy was performed. The postoperative course was uneventful. The histopathological appearances of the specimen were of a stromal tumour of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) arising from the cervical oesophagus.
