AbstractThere are more and more non-Chinese speaking students studying Chinese as a second language in local mainstream schools with local Chinese students. Due to the learning diversity between these two types of students, it is essential to design differentiated assessment so as to accurately reflect students' learning performance and diagnose their learning difficulties. This paper introduces the principles for the design of these differentiated assessment, exemplars designed by school teachers, and the impact to non-Chinese speaking students' Chinese language learning.
