AbstractOptical response of a series of carbon nanotubes with the smallest diameter (4 Å) are studied by the localized-density-matrix method the semiempirical MNDO parametric method3 (PM3)nanotubes. The calculated results are in good agreement with the recent experimental results. The chirality the single-walled 4Å carbon nanotubes synthesized in the channels of the porous zeolites is examined by comparing the calculated and measured absorption spectra.
