Abstract | This paper presents the results of the first phase (2007-2009) of a design experiment, the Knowledge Building International Project (KBIP), in which K-12 teachers from several countries collaborate to implement technology-supported knowledge building as an innovative pedagogical approach. This study focuses on identifying the key environmental features that nurture and sustain the innovations these teachers embarked upon within and beyond their own schools. The assumption behind traditional models of change and implementation based on a model of diffusion, i.e. the goal is to build replicates of exemplar or best practice, is challenged by our results. |
