Objectives
Human mesenchyme stem cells (MSC) and their secretions have been served as a very valuable source in regenerative medicine. e.g. Cartilage repair, ischemic tissue repairs, neural repair and even in esthetic/ anti-aging field. However, the limited proliferative capacity and large variability in adult MSC have hindered its application widely. We have successfully derived MSCs from human pluripotent stem cells (including human ESCs and iPSCs). Compared to adult tissue-derived MSCs, pluripotent stem cell-derived MSCs (hESC/iPSC-MSC) display a larger proliferative capacity, less variability batch-to-bach and a greater therapeutic potential,thus offering an ideal source for a mass production of MSCs with an""off -the shelf"" format. To provide the best MSC source for tissue regeneration in clinical therapy and industrial application, we propose to establish a platform of human pluripotent stem cell-derived MSCs for tissue regeneration. In this platform project, we will focus on following specific objectives. 1.To assess therapeutic potential of human ESC/iPSC-MSCs for vascular and neural regeneration 2.To examine two important therapeutic mechanisms of human ESC/iPSC-MSCs: cell differentiation and secretions 3.To provide a mass MSC production service. We believe the success of this project will not only provide invaluable MSC resources for tissue regeneration, but also offer a service platform for industrial application .
