AbstractWe demonstrate a novel technique to improve receiver sensitivity for ON-OFF Keying format by adopting balanced detection with optical parametric amplifier (OPA) as pre-amplifier. Receiver sensitivity was improved by 1.9 dB compared to single-ended detection scheme. ©2008 IEEE.
