AbstractA direct modulated optical fiber link, including an optical transmitter and an optical receiver, is designed and implemented for RF coil to avoid RF interference due to coaxial cable. Power gain, frequency response, and dynamic range of the link are measured by a bench test. The optical link is applied to phantom imaging and in vivo head imaging on a 0.3T MRI. The image qualities are comparable with those obtained by the traditional coaxial cable. This optical link could be easily extended for multi-channel coil array interlinks.
