AbstractThe article reports on a survey of businesses and their stakeholders in Hong Kong. In a sample of 491 responses, fifteen areas of corporate social responsibility are compared. The most important issues turn out to be the environment, health and safety and governance. All factors are deemed important but the least important is philanthropy. There are notable differences between businesses and their stakeholders and within different stakeholder groups. Views about priority areas differ from group to group. The article demonstrates the important of companies undertaking stakeholder dialogue to gauge the views and aspirations of their stakeholders.
