Abstract本文從佛教最早期的文獻《阿含經》和《大正藏》的“本緣部”出發,考察了念佛思想的起源。文章認為,《阿含經》中以禪觀為主的念佛,在部派佛教時期轉變成了以持名為主的念佛,即由自力為主的修持變成了依靠他力為主的救援。這一發展的關鍵主要是大眾部對佛陀的徹底神話,即把早期佛教以人為主的佛陀觀,轉變成了以神為主的佛陀觀。大眾部在把佛陀神話的同時,也賦予了佛陀很大神力,因此他們相信佛陀的“威力無邊際”。因為佛有無邊的威力,所以持名念佛也可以得到佛的護佑。
