Abstract | Using a vector autoregression model, this paper investigates the interrelationship among the price indexes of the NYSE, AMEX, and OTC. Results show that the lagged variables of the NYSE price index have the strongest power in explaining the current price indexes, indicating the superiority of the NYSE in liquidity. After the inception of the NMS, however, the OTC experiences a significant improvement, and it is now comparable to the NYSE in liquidity. Observations suggest that the AMEX provides less liquidity than either the NYSE or OTC. © 1996 JAI Press Inc. All rights of reproduction in any form reserved. |
