AbstractThis is a short technical paper that describes and discusses the location, design, environmental and governmental support factors pertaining to five types of fish culture facilities in Hong Kong. The focus is on four dimensions, namely local design characterised by informal transmission of knowledge and improvisation; minimal government assistance; conflicts with other beneficial uses and species; and role of government control. The methods used to collect information were interviews with fish farmers1; site inspection; and aerial photo and map interpretation.
