AbstractVector-field theory of heat flux in convective heat transfer was discussed. The theory relates the heat flux density vector to the temperature gradient. It also generalizes the classical Fourier law of heat conduction to the convective heat transfer. The theory was developed by deriving necessary and sufficient conditions for a convective heat transfer process to satisfy the principle of frame-indifference and the second law of thermodynamics.
