AbstractA novel conjectured supply function equilibrium (CSFE) based model for GenCos’ strategic behaviors and their interactions in electricity spot market is introduced. On the basis of supply function equilibrium theory, the general and flexible model of supply function, which is more suitable to evaluate potential market power existed in real electricity market, is derived for generators. The conditions of linear supply functions and existence an d uniqueness of market equilibrium are discussed. It is also shown that the proposed model can be used to apply in the market with inelastic electricity demand, and to construct piece-wise supply functions for generation firms easily.
