Abstract | The inclusion problems in an isotropic elastic half plane were studied. The boundary integral equation approach, displacement domain integral equation approach (DDIE) and strain domain integral equation approach (SDIE) were applied to calculate the elastostatic fields of the elastic half plane containing isotropic, orthotorpic and anisotropic inclusion. A comparative study of the numerical results from the three approaches were also presented. It was simpler to solve multiple inclusion problems by the DDIE and SDIE approaches than the boundary integral equation approach, known as the boundary element method. But the DDIE exhibited errors in some cases. |
