AbstractThe pentaosmium carbide cluster [Os5C(CO)15] reacted with [Pd(PPh3)4] in CH2Cl2, giving a new hexanuclear osmium-palladium carbide cluster [Os5PdC(CO)12(μ-CO)2(PPh3) 2] in moderate yield; treatment of [Os5C(CO)15] with [PdCl2(PPh3)2] in refluxing chloroform gave [Os5PdC(CO)15-(μ-Cl)2(PPh3)] in low yield, which consists of a novel metal core geometry with a Pd-C (carbide) bond.
