AbstractConjugate reduction of alkynones by stoichiometric [(Ph3P)CuH] 6 or catalytic [(Ph3P)CuH]6 and polymethylhydrosiloxane proceeds to cyclization by an aldol reaction with tethered ketones to generate β-hydroxyenones with good diastereoselectivity.
