AbstractThe characteristic features of a highly porous luminescent terbium-organic framework for reversible anion sensing, were investigated. A lanthanide-mucicate coordination polymer features a 2D coordination network with a 1D channel that runs across the coordination layers. Such metal-organic network also acts as a luminescent receptor for reversible selective anion monitoring. Many inorganic anions play fundamental roles in chemical and biological systems and the monitoring of these anions is of biological, environmental, clinical, and industrial interest. The results show that this lanthanide-incorporated organic framework is a very useful candidate for application in gas separation, sensors, and switches.
