Abstract | The preparation and the photophysical properties of a series of luminescent chiral alkynylplatinum(II)-terpyridyl complexes with various counteranions were reported. The study used circular dichroism (CD) and electron microscopy to examine the macro- and microscopic properties of the hierarchical helical self-assembly. It was observed that varying the counteranions affected the chiral supramolecular structures of the metallogels. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of the xerogels were obtained to examine the morphologies of the metallogels with various counteranions. The study demonstrated the gelation of alkynylplatinum(II)- terpyridyl complexes using π-π and hydrophobic-hydrophobic interactions and the influence of the counteranions on the degree of aggregation in metallogels. |
