AbstractGlucose binding to boronic acid functional groups attached to a synthetic polymer in an aqueous solution effectively turns the polymer into a polyanion, which induces the aggregation of the positively charged trimethylpentylammonium pyrene derivative, leading to a strong excimer emission and the development of a ratiometric fluorescence glucose probe. © 2009 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
