AbstractA numerical study of nonlinear responses of a periodically forced Hodgkin-Huxley neuron in the absence of external noise was presented. The multimodal aperiodic firing pattern, a bell shaped curve in the signal to noise ratio and the statistical features predicted the intrinsic stochastic resonance. The signal transduction was improved by the intrinsic oscillations.
