| Abstract | Acute kidney injury (AKI) refers to a sudden reduction of renal function that occurs within hours or days. Adiponectin is an adipose tissue-derived hormone that exerts pleiotropic effects on numerous tissues. The renal-protective role of adiponectin has been widely documented by multiple studies in chronic kidney disease, such as diabetic kidney disease. However, the role of adiponectin in AKI remains controversial. In this study, we aimed to determine whether adiponectin alleviates AKI by inhibiting pyroptosis and inflammation via AMPK/NLRP3 pathway. |
