Abstract | This chapter examines the vision and modalities of China on global governance through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). With the aim to upgrade the existing bilateral, regional and multilateral economic cooperation mechanisms, China takes an incremental and balanced approach to expand its impact on the international community, stimulate voluntary actions from its BRI partners, and promote legal convergence among various legal systems. In addition, China’s vision and modalities on global governance profoundly affect its relationship with the EU. It is suggested in this chapter that EU-China relations and the BRI cooperation could be strengthened with proper strategies and approaches undertaken by both parties. |
