Abstract | A melting technique of carbon deoxidization of VIM (vacuum induction melting) was discussed. Inconel 718 alloy, M17F alloy and iron were used as the testing materials. Applying thermodynamic stable CaO refractory as the melting crucible and increasing refining temperature, the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of carbon deoxidization were strengthened. The results show that the oxygen content of Inconel 718 is decreased from 0.0025% to 0.0006%, M17F from 0.0025% to 0.0009%, and iron from 0.0055% to 0.0025%. |
