AbstractA new species of Jahnula is described based on a specimen from a submerged palm trunk in a peat swamp forest in Thailand. Jahnula appendiculata sp. nov. is unique in the genus in having ascospores that are surrounded by a sheath and in having bipolar cellular appendages. The taxon is illustrated with light micrographs and a brief discussion of appendages in freshwater ascomycetes is provided.
