AbstractThe pathoaetiology of pulmonary hypertension (PHT) was reviewed in Part I of this article. The discovery that an imbalance of the various vasomotor mediators, particularly prostacyclin (down-regulated), and endothelin (up-regulated), has led to the development of novel treatment for this potentially deadly disease. It is now possible to not only relieve the signs and symptoms of PHT but also to prolong the quality life years of sufferers of this condition.
