AbstractSixty-four higher fungi were recorded on submerged wood, bamboo and tree roots in Lake Fuxian, Yunnan, China. Aniptodera chesapeakensis, Dictyosporium heptasporum, and Savoryella lignicola were frequently collected on wood samples. The occurrence of Halosarpheia retorquens and Halosphaeria cucullata, which have previously been recorded from marine habitats, is interesting, while a species of Lulworthia is the first record of this genus from a lake. Pseudohalonectria fuxianii sp. nov. is described and illustrated and compared with similar species in the genus. This is the first report of aquatic fungal communities in a lake from mainland China and the data is compared with previous studies.
