AbstractMixed aromatic/aliphatic organic nanoparticles (MAON) are suggested as the carrier of the unidentified infrared emission (UIE) features. The carriers of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIB) may be gas-phase molecular products released from MAON in the interstellar medium.
