AbstractA retrospective study of 71 Austin Moore hemiarthroplasties performed for fresh femoral neck fractures in 69 patients was carried out. The average follow-up was 6 years 11 months with a minimum of 5 years. According to the Salvati and Wilson hip rating scale, 45% of the results (31 patients) were excellent, 28% (19 patients) good, 25% (17 patients) fair, and 3% (2 patients) poor. A comprehensive radiographic analysis was undertaken in 57 hemiarthroplasties. Significant radiological changes were common.
