AbstractThis paper examines the relationship between economic growth and the investment and consumption components of government spending by modifying a specification of Barro's (Journal of Political Economics, 1990, 98, S103-S125) model to prevent asymmetry in the production process. The predictions are consistent with existing empirical findings. © 1995.
