AbstractSince its description in 1979 the pectoralis major myocutaneous flap has become widely used in head and neck reconstruction. The anatomy and operative technique are described in this paper. Experience in the use of 52 such flaps is presented. Ease in harvesting, dependability and the offer of one-stage completion of reconstruction make it the flap of choice, particularly in oral cavity and pharyngeal reconstruction.
