Abstract | Multivalent nucleotides can be precipitated with inorganic salts by formation of insoluble nucleotide-salt complexes or by adsorption of the nucleotides to the inorganic salt precipitates through charge interaction. This principle provides an approach to the fractionation of various nucleotides. At neutrality, cyclic AMP (cAMP) has only one negative charge, while all other adenine nueleotides, namely ATP, ADP, and 5'-AMP, are multivalent. Therefore a selective separation of cAMP from other nucleotides can be achieved. |
