AbstractThe paper proposes using two pairs of meander lines (MLs) with different structures to design a deep single band notch for planar monopole ultra-wide band (UWB) antennas. The center frequency and bandwidth of the deep notch in the characteristic of the UWB antennas can be adjusted by using the dimensions of the ML structures. For illustration, the single band notch is designed in the wireless local area network (WLAN) band from 5.15 GHz to 5.825 GHz. The band-notched characteristics such as radiation patterns and peak gains of the antenna are studied using computer simulation.
