The West Lake Trilogy is the collective name for Ruohong’s Poems (poem collection). The Dream of the West Lake (photo collection), and Disillusionment of the West Lake (novel). All the three works are composed by an artist from Hong Kong and center on the West Lake. Apart from the Hong Kong—related elements in content, 'poetic quality' has been present throughout them. This paper discusses the creative background and artistic features of the trilogy so as to improve the accuracy of the data cited by literary researchers. As the author is both researcher and creator of the trilogy, the paper has collected all data related to the trilogy's creative background and artistic features, examined and referred to the reviews on the author's original intention and facts of creation, and provided first hand data for research. At the same time, the paper also expounds the actual process of creation while referring to the plausible literary review so that the two do not deviate from each other.
