AbstractRutile films were deposited on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) substrates using 1.5 M titanium tetrachloride aqueous solution at 60 °C. The rutile films exhibited excellent in vitro bioactivity as they induced apatite deposition in a simulated body fluid (SBF) within 2 days. Chlorine incorporated in the rutile films did not inhibit apatite deposition.
