AbstractIn the mid-1990s when digital photography began to enter the consumer market, Professor Joseph Goodman and I set out to explore how computation would impact the imaging system design. The field of study has since grown to be known as computational photography. In this paper I'll describe some of its recent advances and challenges, and discuss what the future holds. © 2011 Copyright Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
