AbstractThis paper presents a dispatch method considering the power output variations of wind turbines in power systems. Both analytic method and Monte Carlo simulation have been used to calculate the probability of real power outputs of wind turbines. For the reactive power, asynchronous wind turbine model is used to describe the relationship between the injected reactive power and the active power. In the dispatch model, both Monte Carlo method and analytical expected wind power output method are used and the results are compared with each other. Simulation results, considering different operational cases, are presented to analysis the impacts of wind power in power system dispatch. ©2009 IEEE.
