AbstractThis paper investigates the performance of orthogonal frequency and code division multiplexing (OFCDM) systems with multiple input multiple output (MIMO) multiplexing (MIMO-OFCDM), where multi-code transmission is employed to increase the data rate. An analytical approach is presented to evaluate the performance of the system using joint space-frequency detection with zero-forcing successive interference cancellation (ZF-SIC) in the space domain and minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection in the frequency domain. It is shown that at each step of SIC, the decision errors on multiple code channels are correlated to each other. By taking the correlation between the errors into account, the proposed analytical approach provides a precise estimation on the performance of MIMO-OFCDM. Simulations demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed analytical approach. © 2008 IEEE.
