AbstractHigh resolution inner-shell and valence-shell electron energy loss spectra of cyclopropane and ethylene oxide have been measured under dipole-dominated conditions (1.0-3.7 keV impact energy and zero degree scattering angle). The resulting inner-shell spectra include C1s excitation in cyclopropane and C1s and O1s excitation in ethylene oxide. The excitation spectra for each molecule are interpreted as transitions to a common manifold of virtual valence orbitals and also to Rydberg orbitals. © 1991.
