AbstractAddition of 0.5 at.% of boron into a γ-γ′ two-phase alloy greatly increases the toughness of the material. The yield stress also increases slightly after boron doping. Boron doping also leads to the formation of well-defined nickel-rich grain boundary zones and these are thought to be responsible for the observed toughening.
