AbstractExamines flow over grooved cylinders of rectangular and trapezoidal configuration. The drag coefficient curves are similar to those of smooth cylinders except that they are shifted towards lower Reynolds number. Demonstrates the approximate location of the beginning of the wake region and the uncorrected Strouhal number of vortex shedding. Base pressure and minimum pressure coefficients correlate reasonably with other data. The wide data scatter observed in one region is attributed to the asymmetry in the static pressure distribution and the three dimensional nature of the flow.
