AbstractProduction automation is continually being enhanced by the use of interactive computer graphics in micro- or minicomputer sysems. NC (numerical control) production which was in the past a separate activity is now an integral element of CAD/CAM systems. Three schemes of simple CAD/CAM systems are described in this paper. These sections can be used to define 2D and 3D engineering components and automatically generate cutting information for subsequent manufacture on an NC machine.
